The Officials Committee cordially invites all current Association Officials to a Starters Clinic and Electronic Distance Measurement (EDM) Seminar. The sessions will be held Sunday, August 13, at the Woodruff P.E. Center on the campus of Emory University. The address is 26 Eagle Row, Atlanta, GA 30322. There is a parking deck across from the P.E. Center that is open to the public on Sundays.

As a reminder a current USATF membership is required to attend the clinic.

General Notes

The number of participants and the weather will assist in the longevity of the clinic. It is encouraged that attendees dress for the weather as well as bring water and/or a light snack. Please read the Clinic Resources to insure a hands on approach to the clinic.

Starters Clinic (1:00 pm – 5:00 pm)

Will help establish a standardized method for starters/prospective starters for track events following USATF, GHSA and NCAA rules. It will give new and experienced officials foundational knowledge, protocol information, to help reinforce the rules and how to execute the correct application of those rules, as well establish a standard in technique and cadence for starters and prospective starters so the experience of each athlete can be as consistent as possible.

Electronic Distance Measurement Seminar (1:00 pm – 5:00 pm)

Will provide protocols and device recommendations for training officials to use Electronic Measurement and Electronic Recording of the long throws, horizontal, and vertical jumps.
