We, the members of the Athletes Advisory Committee of USATF, join together to endorse the Copenhagen Reform Proposal proposed by 17 national anti-doping organizations in August 2016. We feel strongly that IOC and WADA governance should be separate, and that the IOC should invest the necessary funding in WADA for it to be effective. These would be landmark steps toward protecting clean sport athletes globally, and restoring faith in Olympic Sport.
In one of her final acts as USATF President at the 2016 Annual Meeting, Hightower awarded this year’s President’s Awards.

In a year where preps stirred the pot big-time at the Olympic Trials, 17-year-old junior Candace Hill put herself deep into the mix, placing 4th in her 100 semi and 5th in the 200's penultimate round. In the shorter dash, Hill, whose ’15 PR, 10.98, took down the High School Record, made her the first sub-11.00 prep, and spurred her decision to turn pro at 16, missed the final by just 0.03.

On August 17, 2016, Kristi Castlin, Brianna Rollins, and Nia Ali did something that no American female track and field athletes had done before—they swept an Olympic event, taking bronze, gold, and silver, respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles.
