USATF Georgia Association Bylaws

  • USATF Georgia Association Bylaws
  • Proposed Bylaw amendments to be considered at the 2019 Annual Meeting
  • Proposed Bylaw amendments must include the following:
    • ​Section detailing the proposed amendment to include
      • The entire section, subsection or paragraph, as it will be read if adopted, with all proposed additional language underlined or shaded, and proposed deleted language in double parenthesis
      • A brief statement of the rationale for the submission
      • Budgetary impact, if any
    • Name of submitter/sponsor
    • All submission forms must be submitted to secretary@georgia.usatf.org for archival. The Secretary will maintain a record of the submission form for each proposed amendment regardless of the outcome of the proposal.

Committee Operating Procedures

Operating Procedures are the rules adopted by any committee of this Association for the purpose of its day-to-day operation. Each committee will have a set of written operating procedures on file with the Association Secretary. These procedures shall not conflict with the provisions of the USATF Bylaws and Operating Regulations or these Bylaws. Any modification of the committee’s operating procedures shall be promptly reported to the Secretary.

Amendments to Committee Operating Procedures

  1. Proposed amendments to any committee Operating Procedures may be submitted at any time by any Member including committee non-members, and shall be considered and voted upon by the committee’s full membership before submission to the Board. For list of Committee Chairs, see our Directory page or visit each Committee page for additional details.
  2. Proposed amendments accepted by the committee must be submitted, in written or electronic form, to the Board for voting.
  3. Proposed amendments shall require, for adoption, the requisite vote outlined in the Board’s Operating Procedures.
  4. Unless otherwise specified in the proposed amendment or at the time of adoption, amendments to committee Operating Procedures shall be effective immediately.

For members interested in an office or interested in voting for candidates at the annual meeting, see notes below.

Eligible Candidates

  1. Be a current USATF member
  2. Pass the USATF background screen
  3. Successfully complete the U.S. Center for SafeSport Training course

SafeSport Compliance

USATF currently requires members of the following groups to be USATF 3-Step SafeSport Compliant:  National Office Staff, Board of Directors, registered coaches, certified officials, authorized agents, National Team staff, National Committee Chairs, Association leadership, Youth Committee members, AAC Committee Members, AAC Event Leaders, all meet volunteers in an official capacity, Youth Camp staff, and vendors with access to athletes. 


In order to be USATF 3-Step SafeSport Compliant, these individuals must:
  1. Have a USATF membership,
  2. Successfully complete the appropriate annual USATF background screen (which includes acknowledgement of the USATF SafeSport Handbook and an agreement to abide by the respective code of conduct), and
  3. Successfully complete SafeSport training before having contact with athletes, and in any event, within sixty (60) days of assuming such position within USATF.

Method of nominations

If you intend to run for a Board position, please send email to the Executive Vice-President at evp@georgia.usatf.org.

  • Each nomination shall be approved by the nominee.
  • Nominations may be made and must be allowed from the floor at the Annual Meeting.
  • The nomination must contain a biographical sketch, prepared by the nominee, that includes the nominee’s credentials for the position. The biographical sketch may be presented in verbal or written form.
  • No nomination may be made for an absent person unless that person has notified the nominations committee in writing of his or her willingness to accept that specific nomination.

Voter criteria

  1. One person-one ballot: One person shall cast only one ballot as an individual, regardless of how many positions within the Association the person occupies;
  2. Proxies: There shall be no proxy voting;
  3. Minimum age: In order to vote, Members must be at least 18 years of age on the day of election;
  4. Voting membership deadline: Except for renewals from the previous year, individuals must be Members at least 30 days prior to the date of election.
